Duties
Occupational Therapists in CSC are responsible for the management and delivery of occupational therapy programs and services for a specific caseload of correctional clients. Occupational Therapists take a holistic view to client care. Their duties include:
- triaging service requests and coordinating access to occupational therapy services
- conducting assessments and developing biopsychosocial treatment plans in relation to a patient’s physical abilities and/or mental and cognitive health needs
- preparing occupational therapy treatment assessments, plans and progress reports
- developing, implementing, and evaluating occupational therapy programs and rehabilitation services for both groups and individuals
- engaging in health promotion activities to support patient overall wellbeing
- assessing risk for suicide or self-injury
- providing interventions to preserve life and prevent serious bodily harm

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff positions with English essential and bilingual imperative CBC/CBC language requirements.
A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (such as indeterminate, term, deployment, assignment, secondment, acting or casual) and with those linguistic requirements.
CSC will review applications received on a regular basis and contact applicants who meet the below essential criteria (occupational certification and experience) for further assessment based on the needs of the institutions. It is therefore important that you indicate all the locations where you want to work.
The placement of CSC employees with an affected status* as a result of a current or future workforce adjustment exercise may be considered ahead of other candidates for a deployment or an appointment. * Affected status as defined in the Workforce Adjustment Directive or appendix to the relevant collective agreement.

Eligibility for practice as an Occupational Therapist with the provincial/licensing body in the province of practice.

EXPERIENCE (ASSET)
Experience working in a correctional environment.
Experience providing Occupational Therapy services to clients with psychiatric/mental health disorders.
Experience providing Occupational Therapy services to clients with physical, medical and/or cognitive conditions & deficits. These may include but are not limited to geriatric clients, brain injuries, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and behaviourally challenged clients.
