Position Overview
Heritage Hills Golf Club is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on General Manager / Director of Golf to lead the day-to-day operations of the facility.
Reporting directly to the Group Director of Golf, the General Manager / Director of Golf is responsible for the successful daily operation of Heritage Hills Golf Club, including golf operations, member and guest experience, staffing, financial performance, Food & Beverage, tournaments and events, and overall facility presentation.
The successful candidate will be a visible leader who takes ownership of the operation, develops their team, maintains high service standards, and ensures Heritage Hills operates within the financial and operational direction established by the Group Director of Golf.
This position requires a balance between leadership and hands-on involvement. The General Manager / Director of Golf is expected to be highly visible throughout the facility and assist operationally when required, while ensuring their primary focus remains on managing the business and leading the Heritage Hills team.
Reporting Structure
Reports To: Group Director of Golf
The General Manager / Director of Golf is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and accountability of Heritage Hills Golf Club department managers, supervisors, and staff.
The position works closely with the Group Director of Golf on:
· Annual operating budgets
· Capital planning
· Pricing strategies
· Labor targets
· Revenue objectives
· Group policies and procedures
· Marketing initiatives
· Major purchasing decisions
· Staffing plans
· Long-term facility improvements
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Daily Operations
· Provide overall leadership for the daily operation of Heritage Hills Golf Club.
· Ensure all departments operate efficiently and consistently.
· Maintain a strong management presence throughout the facility.
· Establish clear expectations and accountability for managers, supervisors, and employees.
· Conduct regular meetings with department leaders.
· Ensure departments communicate effectively with one another.
· Identify operational issues early and take appropriate corrective action.
· Ensure Heritage Hills follows company-wide policies, procedures, and operating standards.
· Report significant operational concerns to the Group Director of Golf.
Financial Management
· Operate Heritage Hills within the annual budget approved by the Group Director of Golf and ownership.
· Monitor revenue, expenses, labour, and departmental performance.
· Review financial results regularly and identify areas requiring corrective action.
· Manage departmental labour levels according to business volume and approved targets.
· Assist in preparing annual operating and capital budgets.
· Monitor purchasing and inventory controls.
· Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve profitability.
· Provide regular financial and operational reporting to the Group Director of Golf.
· Ensure department managers understand and are accountable for their budgets.
Golf Operations & Pro Shop
· Oversee the overall golf operation and Pro Shop.
· Ensure tee-sheet management supports both customer service and revenue objectives.
· Maintain strong standards for customer service and pace of play.
· Oversee tournaments, leagues, outings, and golf events.
· Monitor Pro Shop inventory, merchandising, purchasing, and controls.
· Assist in developing golf programming that increases participation and revenue.
· Ensure golf operations staff are properly trained and scheduled.
· Maintain a visible presence with members, guests, leagues, and tournament organizers.
Food & Beverage
· Provide management oversight of Heritage Hills Food & Beverage operations.
· Work with F&B leadership to maintain appropriate staffing and service standards.
· Monitor Food & Beverage sales, labour, food cost, beverage cost, inventory, and waste.
· Ensure appropriate purchasing and inventory controls are maintained.
· Support menu development and pricing decisions.
· Ensure Food & Beverage operations effectively support tournaments, leagues, functions, and regular golf traffic.
Staff Leadership & Development
· Recruit, train, supervise, and develop Heritage Hills employees and managers.
· Build a positive workplace culture based on teamwork, accountability, and customer service.
· Ensure staffing levels and schedules are appropriate for expected business levels.
· Conduct regular employee performance discussions.
· Address performance and disciplinary matters promptly and professionally.
· Identify employees with potential for additional responsibility and development.
· Work to reduce unnecessary turnover through strong communication and leadership.
Member & Guest Experience
· Maintain a strong and visible presence with members and guests.
· Ensure Heritage Hills provides a welcoming, professional, and consistent experience.
· Respond professionally and promptly to customer concerns.
· Develop relationships with members, guests, leagues, tournament organizers, and community partners.
· Monitor customer feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Ensure staff understand that customer service is the responsibility of every department.
Grounds & Facility Coordination
· Maintain regular communication with the Superintendent/course maintenance leadership.
· Coordinate golf operations with course maintenance activities to minimize disruption to golfers.
· Ensure clubhouse, Pro Shop, restaurant, cart areas, parking areas, and other customer-facing facilities are maintained to appropriate standards.
· Identify facility and capital needs and communicate recommendations to the Group Director of Golf.
· Assist with planning and implementation of approved capital projects.
Tournaments, Events & Revenue Development
· Develop and maintain relationships with tournament organizers, corporate groups, leagues, and community organizations.
· Oversee tournament and event execution from booking through completion.
· Identify opportunities to increase tournament, event, golf, Food & Beverage, and Pro Shop revenue.
· Ensure strong communication between Golf Operations, Food & Beverage, and Grounds for major events.
· Assist with marketing and promotional initiatives for Heritage Hills.
Relationship With the Group Director of Golf
The General Manager / Director of Golf is responsible for executing the day-to-day operation of Heritage Hills Golf Club.
The Group Director of Golf provides overall strategic direction, financial oversight, company-wide standards, and leadership across the golf group.
The General Manager / Director of Golf will:
· Keep the Group Director informed of financial and operational performance.
· Seek approval for expenditures outside established budgets or authorization levels.
· Implement group-wide policies and initiatives.
· Participate in management and planning meetings.
· Provide recommendations regarding staffing, pricing, capital projects, and operational improvements.
· Escalate significant employee, customer, financial, or operational issues when appropriate.
· Work collaboratively with management at the group's other golf facilities.
The position is expected to make appropriate daily operating decisions independently while recognizing when an issue requires consultation or approval from the Group Director of Golf.
Qualifications & Experience
· Previous golf course management or senior golf operations experience.
· Strong understanding of golf operations and customer service.
· Experience managing employees and department leaders.
· Understanding of budgeting, financial statements, labour management, and cost controls.
· Experience with tournaments, leagues, events, and golf programming.
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple departments and priorities.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
· Knowledge of golf POS, tee-sheet, and reservation systems.
· PGA of Canada membership would be considered an asset but is not necessarily required, depending on experience.
· Food & Beverage management experience would be considered an asset.

Position Summary
The General Manager / Director of Golf at Heritage Hills Golf Club is expected to run the facility as their business while operating within the overall direction of the golf group.
The successful candidate will have the authority and responsibility necessary to manage Heritage Hills effectively while maintaining regular communication and accountability to the Group Director of Golf.
This is a leadership position first. While hands-on involvement is expected when necessary, the primary responsibility is to lead the people, manage the operation, control the financial performance, and continually improve the member and guest experience at Heritage Hills Golf Club.
