RETAIL SUPERVISOR – NEIGHBOURHOOD
Choices for Youth Inc. (CFY) is a professional service, youth-focused, non-profit, charitable organization that creates spaces and conversations, and operates programs and social enterprises to help vulnerable youth secure stable housing, employment, and education while improving health and family stability. With a focus on prevention, intervention, and support, we help youth and young families break cycles of poverty and homelessness and transition to healthy, stable, and independent lives. Our Education, Employment, and Social Enterprise team is currently seeking to hire one (1) full-time, permanent Retail Supervisor to join our retail clothing social enterprise, Neighbourhood, located on 340 LeMarchant Road, St. John’s NL.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mentor, coach, and support youth trainees in developing workplace, customer service, and retail skills.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment where youth feel supported and empowered.
- Connect youth with appropriate supports and communicate with management and support teams regarding trainee needs and progress.
- Train youth on all aspects of retail operations, including customer service, merchandising, cash handling, and store procedures.
- Maintain a welcoming, customer-focused environment while educating customers about our social mission.
- Ensure all daily shop operations and general store maintenance are completed by the end of each day.
- Review and approve cash logs, deposits, and other financial transactions.
- Monitor social media platforms and respond to customer inquiries as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills, with confidence in providing direction, feedback, and encouragement to youth.
- Experience working with youth, individuals facing barriers to employment, or the vulnerable sector is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to balance mentorship and operational responsibilities.
- Minimum of two years of retail experience required; supervisory experience is an asset.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
WORK HOURS
The position will work 35–40 hours per week and flexibility in work hours will be required including evening and weekend work to accommodate family and youth schedules.
COMPENSATION
The compensation for this position is $20.17 Hourly. Choices for Youth offers a comprehensive compensation package, including health and dental benefits, employer-matched RRSP and four weeks’ vacation to qualifying employees.
