About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accounting Clerk to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their accounting career in a fast-paced transportation and industrial services environment.
The successful candidate will support both the Accounting and Operations teams by ensuring accurate financial data, organized records, and efficient administrative processes. This role offers a diverse workload with opportunities to gain experience in accounting, transportation, fleet operations, and business administration.
Responsibilities
- Enter vendor invoices accurately and efficiently into the accounting system.
- Perform daily data entry and maintain accurate financial records.
- Match invoices with purchase orders and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies.
- Review internal and external work orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Enter data from shipping manifests into internal systems.
- Enter rental agreement information into Odoo.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
- Assist with general accounting, reporting, and administrative tasks.
- Support month-end closing activities as required.
- Update and maintain operational spreadsheets, reports, and internal tracking logs.
- Assist with preparing operational reports and KPI tracking for management.
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments to obtain required documentation and resolve administrative issues.
- Assist with document management, scanning, and filing of financial and operational records.
- Support process improvements and administrative projects across both the Accounting and Operations departments.
- Travel between our Hamilton, Nanticoke, and Niagara shop locations to support operational requirements as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Accounting and Operations teams on various day-to-day activities and special projects.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, administrative, or office experience preferred.
- Strong data entry skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Great Plains (GP), TMW, Protractor, or Odoo is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to travel between company locations when required.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and eagerness to grow within the organization.
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
