JOB DESCRIPTION

Your role will be to make it possible for participating students to explore the world of cinema! The project is a 3-minute film that will be screened at the Youth Fusion Cinema Gala at the end of the school year. During the school year, students will be given the opportunity to learn how to handle a camera and frame shots, and also learn about sound, acting, lighting, directing as well as the various stages of the scriptwriting process.

TERMS

  • Part-time
  • $17.25/hour
  • October 2019 - May 2020
  • 10 hours per week
  • Located in Thunder Bay, with the Lakehead District School Board
  • Possibility of contract renewal
  • Training will be provided in September 2019

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Having the students benefit from your expertise by putting forward projects that are integrative, stimulating and wide-ranging
  • Working closely with the school’s teachers and administrators, and Youth Fusion officials, in order to maximize the project’s impact and awareness within the school
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with the school (punctuality, communications, adherence to the culture and rules of the school environment, etc.)
  • Taking initiative, being creative and a self-starter, in order to effectively contribute to the project’s execution and success
  • Attending team and progress meetings
  • Supervising the students and looking after their safety
  • Drafting the appropriate reports (midway progress and final reports) as scheduled
  • When needed, representing Youth Fusion, the sponsoring university or college or the project itself before our partners

EDUCATION

Currently pursuing a university or college education in a field related to film and/or television

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working and interacting with teenagers
  • Experience using film equipment
  • Scriptwriting, directing and editing knowledge
  • Volunteer work or any other tangible experience working with youth (day or vacation camps, tutoring, etc.) is an asset

LANGUAGE(S)
Spoken and written English

SKILLS

  • Strong time management and multitasking strategies
  • Excellent at meeting self-created deadlines
  • Demonstrates a passion for group leadership
  • Knowledge in Suite Office
  • Knowledge in Premiere Pro and/or Gimp

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK

A vulnerable sector screening is required for this position. The process is subject to a confidentiality protocol between Youth Fusion and the local police.
