The Deputy Minister’s Office in Energy and Resources requires a highly motivated, results oriented individual to fill the position of Executive Assistant (EA) to the Deputy Minister. In this challenging position you will:

Manage various policy issues, projects and processes on behalf of the Deputy Minister.
Coordinate briefing material to respond to emergent issues, and report and provide advice to the Deputy Minister on program, policy and administrative issues.
Provide operational consistency, ensure timely handling of issue identification, management, resolution and risk management.
Develop and maintain a respective, collegial relationship within the ministry and the Office of the Minister in order to address/resolve issues and situations which require confidential, tactful, management and communication.
As a member of the senior management committee, work closely with senior managers on various initiatives and issues.
Represent the Deputy Minister's Office on inter-branch projects as well as inter-ministerial committees and projects.
Participate in the preparation and maintenance of the Ministry’s Strategic Plan.
Liaise with the office of the Minister of Energy and Resources to ensure written correspondence and verbal requests are responded to in a timely and effective manner.
Strong analytical and policy skills to comprehend the ministry goals and strategies and understand how they relate to government's strategic direction.
Exceptional communication and diplomatic skills are essential in order to ensure that the role of ministry staff is respected and that the Minister’s Office is being provided with the information they require.
Strong organization skills and attention to detail to plan and manage work in an effective manner, track achievements, take corrective action and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills to identify and address ministry and government program issues, and assess the potential impacts of decisions on public/client interest and concerns.
Efficient collaboration and relationship building skills to resolve problems, address and manage sensitive and differing needs and agendas of multiple stakeholders, and carry out ministry business to ensure successful outcomes.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position will have been acquired through completion of a degree in business, public policy, public administration or a related discipline and government experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
