Convergint is currently recruiting for a System Designer III (Building Automation Systems) to join our amazing culture at Convergint. As the Systems Designer, you have overall responsibility of reviewing project mechanical drawings, specifications, vendor shop drawings, creating a design for Building Automation System as well as creating graphics packages for different projects, as and when required.
This includes a variety of projects that are primarily larger and more complex. Individual’s work shall be in accordance with the established quality standards. Ensures projects are designed efficiently and with productivity as well as meeting the required timeline.
This role will spend time in office performing design engineering, drafting, creating graphics, and/or QAQC.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”

Create different HVAC mechanical graphical backgrounds along with point identification. Mapping/binding of those points with the database on the Graphical User Interface.

Carries out in-depth analysis of plans, functional specifications and contracts in order to determine and advise on overall project requirements; estimating & design.

Develop and maintain in-house engineering standards, libraries and procedures.

Provides input, reviews and may prepare shop drawings and wiring diagrams, based on project plans and specifications, showing location of devices, equipment, and wiring etc.

QAQC: Prepares and/or reviews formal submittal booklets, containing schematics, and technical literature as necessary to support each contract.

Liaise with Project Managers, clients, contractors, partners and vendors to manage the Engineering design of the project in a successful manner.

Advises Project Managers regarding appropriate products needed for installation, identifying any items which have longer lead times. Helps them with the change order estimation, BOM and design.

Provides on site assistance with the graphics creation, mapping/binding and training.

Proactively communicates engineering schedules, change order proposals (as applicable) and related engineering activities on a regular basis with the Project Manager and seeks to continuously improve customer satisfaction.

Assists the Project Manager in utilizing financial systems to review actual vs. estimated job cost and to provide timely and accurate project cost reports; identify reasons for low productivity on engineering and determine concurrent impact on the project.

Acts as a technical resource and support to sales executives including attending pre booking meetings and turnover meetings.

Prepares graphics databases as well as ready to learn programming for computer based systems.

Using technical knowledge, skills and experience, acts as mentor and provides training for less experienced staff. Provides performance feedback to management regarding Designers, Engineering Specialist I and II. Transfers knowledge and expertise to other Specialists.

Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.

What you’ll need

Solid knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to building automation systems.

Previous exposure and experience in any Graphical User Interface is required.

Previous exposure to AutoCAD software is required.

Should have appetite for learning programming skills as well as troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.

Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision

Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Highly proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), AutoCAD and/or viewing software

Solid networking & IT skills (Building Automation primarily)

Requirements:

Minimum of seven years of BAS design or BAS technical experience required
-
Minimum of five years of AutoCAD experience
-
Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering,
-
Relevant designation (e.g. EIT, P.Eng., etc.) is an asset
