At Local 1794, we are a busy gastropub that takes pride in a tasteful and creative menu that has guests coming back regularly. Our team is all about ensuring that every guest leaves happy every time and has the best experience during their visit. We are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Sous Chef who is passionate about culinary arts who can lead a team to fulfill that vision.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a natural leader who is up to the date of current culinary trends. The Sous Chef will be responsible for assigning work in the kitchen, preparing meals for our diners, interviewing and training staff, kitchen inventory management and partnering with the Chef to come up with delectable new dishes to add to our growing menu.

Hospitality is innate in every member of our team. We believe when we work together, we can deliver a better experience to our guests. The Sous Chef will be accountable for leading the team with the Chef in the kitchen at a high volume restaurant.

Responsibilities:
Ensure safety and sanitation practices in the kitchen.
Manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks related to meal prep, cooking and delivering food to guests in a timely fashion.
Keep up with industry trends and create new recipes in collaboration with the Chef.
Create weekly specials to the menu with the Chef.

Job Requirements:
Associate Degree in Culinary Arts.
2+ years’ experience as a Sous Chef in a full-service restaurant.
2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role.
Excellent communication and organization skills.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Dedicated to food quality and control.
Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards.
Demonstrate the ability to attract and retain excellent performers and to develop high performing teams.

Local 1794 on Danforth between Coxwell and Woodbine is a neighborhood gastropub serving high-end cuisine in a cozy, comfortable setting. The menu features daily specials, hand rolled wood oven baked pizzas, local farmed meats and fresh seafood. With a great boutique wine selection, 24 taps of the best microbrewers and black-and-white movies playing, the 53 foot long handmade bar is a great place to settle in for the night.
