We’re looking for a
remote Applied AI Engineer in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning industry.
Our client is building a next-generation AI platform designed to transform how billions of people interact with everyday productivity tools such as email, notes, tasks, and workflows. Their mission is to create a proactive, intelligent assistant that helps users complete real-world tasks with minimal prompting, enabling meaningful productivity gains through advanced AI capabilities.
This is an opportunity to join a small, world-class team focused on solving some of the most challenging problems in applied AI, including long-running workflows, persistent memory, agentic systems, and reliable task completion. The Applied AI Engineer will be responsible for bridging advanced AI capabilities with real-world product experiences, ensuring AI systems perform reliably, efficiently, and predictably in production environments.
Applied AI Engineer responsibilities:
- Build and ship AI-powered features from model development through to production deployment and user experience
- Design, develop, and optimize prompts, agent workflows, memory systems, and tool integrations
- Transform raw model outputs into structured, reliable, and predictable product behaviours
- Debug and resolve issues across the AI stack, including models, orchestration systems, infrastructure, and user experience
- Optimize AI systems for performance, latency, scalability, cost efficiency, and production reliability
- Develop lightweight evaluation frameworks and metrics to measure real-world model and system performance
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and research teams to translate ambiguous problems into effective solutions
- Support the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of machine learning models and inference systems
- Drive continuous improvement through experimentation, iteration, and data-driven decision-making
- Contribute to the development of robust, maintainable, and reproducible AI infrastructure and workflows
The successful candidate has:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, and modern neural network architectures
- Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning, evaluating, or deploying machine learning models
- Advanced proficiency in Python and experience writing clean, production-quality code
- Experience working with large language models (LLMs) including OpenAI-style APIs, LLaMA, Qwen, or related technologies
- Experience with AI development frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, JAX, vector databases, and inference platforms such as vLLM
- Ability to work across multiple abstraction layers, from model development and infrastructure through to product implementation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Demonstrated ability to deliver production-ready solutions and iterate based on real-world user feedback
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic AI systems, workflow orchestration, or autonomous agents is considered a strong asset
Compensation and benefits:
- The discussed salary range is $120,000 - $170,000, depending on experience
- Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered
- Senior, top-tier GenAI specialists with significant LLM, RAG, and Agentic AI experience may be considered for compensation ranging from $170,000 - $210,000, depending on experience
- Fully remote working arrangement
- Opportunity to work alongside a highly talented team building cutting-edge AI technology at global scale
- Significant opportunity for professional growth and impact on a rapidly evolving product
