We are seeking an experienced Pipe Foreman to lead a small underground utility crew on civil construction projects throughout Muskoka.
This is a hands-on role for a skilled pipe professional who enjoys working in the field, leading by example, and delivering high-quality installations of water, sewer, stormwater, and septic infrastructure. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with the leadership ability to keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Our work includes high-end residential developments, commercial site servicing, municipal infrastructure, private septic systems, and emergency watermain repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside a small crew of pipe layers, labourers, and equipment operators.
- Coordinate daily tasks, materials, and equipment requirements to maximize productivity.
- Install watermains, sanitary sewers, storm systems, manholes, catch basins, and septic systems.
- Read and interpret civil drawings, grade sheets, and engineered plans.
- Set up and utilize pipe lasers, rotating lasers, GPS grading systems, and surveying equipment to maintain accurate line and grade.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
- Complete daily reports, production tracking, material records, and safety documentation.
- Coordinate testing and quality control activities, including pressure testing, chlorination, hydrostatic testing, and mandreling.
- Respond to emergency watermain breaks and utility repairs as required.
- Enforce trench safety requirements and all applicable health and safety regulations.
- Train and mentor crew members while promoting a positive, team-oriented culture.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in underground utility installation, including water, sewer, stormwater, and septic systems.
- Proven ability to lead crews, coordinate work activities, and maintain productivity on site.
- Experience working with PVC, HDPE, concrete, and ductile iron pipe systems.
- Ability to read civil drawings, grade sheets, and engineered plans.
- Experience establishing and maintaining accurate line and grade using lasers, GPS systems, and standard surveying equipment.
- Strong understanding of excavation, compaction, trenching, and utility construction methods.
- A safety-first mindset with a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to participate in an emergency on-call rotation.
- Valid Class G driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- First Aid/CPR, Trenching & Excavation, and Confined Space certifications are considered assets.
