Quality Technician – (Temp to Perm)
About Our Client We have a client who is a Leader in the Fabrication sectors. They are a fully-integrated supplier of manufacturing and engineering services providing steel components and complex, high value-added assemblies for the agricultural, construction, mining, energy, heavy truck, and industrial sectors.
What You Will Be Doing, as a Quality Technician:
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of fabricated and welded steel components
- Verify conformance to engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and weld symbols
- Inspect raw materials, cut parts, formed components, and assemblies using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, Faro Arm)
- Conduct first-off inspections and verify fabrication setup prior to full production runs
- Verify weld quality and workmanship per applicable standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, CSA W47.1)
- Identify, document, and track non-conforming materials (NCMs) and initiate corrective actions
- Support root cause analysis and participate in problem-solving meetings to prevent recurrence
- Complete PPAP, ISIR, and dimensional layout reports
- Maintain quality system documentation in compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001 standards
- Maintain calibration records and ensure accuracy of inspection and test equipment
- Support continuous improvement projects, including 5S, Kaizen, and Lean manufacturing initiatives
- Adhere to all safety standards and promote safe working practices throughout the plant
What You Should Have, as a Quality Technician:
- Post-secondary education in Quality, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in a fabrication or welding environment with a focus on quality inspection
- Strong proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and weld symbol interpretation
- Hands-on experience operating and programming CMM or Faro Arm equipment (training provided if needed)
- Strong understanding of steel grades, welding processes, and fabrication methods
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality systems
- Knowledge of PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, and MSA is considered a strong asset
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and exposure to ERP or quality management systems
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving
In Return, You Will Receive:
- $24.00 per hour depending on shift
- Paid weekly, every Friday, 1 week behind
- Opportunity for permanent hire
- 4% vacation pay – accrued and paid out when you need it
- Access to a Vertical Representative Monday to Friday 8am to 11pm and on weekends
The Shift You Will be Working is:
- Monday to Friday – 11pm-7am – ½ hour unpaid lunch
