Casual Healthcare Security Officers - Western Memorial Regional Hospital
Site Description: The new Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a modern, 164-bed, acute-care hospital, with individual inpatient rooms, state-of-the-art treatment rooms, and enhanced diagnostics systems, emergency services, as well as a list of other patient services.
Position: Casual Security Officers Site: Western Memorial Regional Hospital Overtime (OT): OT after 48 hours
Hours: As needed Payrate: $19.90/hour

Key responsibilities:

Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.

Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.

Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.

Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.

Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.

Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.

Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Clear Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check

Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)

Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: All healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.

Vaccination Documentation: Proof of completion of the full series of childhood/primary vaccinations is required.

Tdap Vaccine: One dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is required upon reaching 18 years of age.

Booster Requirement: A booster dose of tetanus toxoid-reduced diphtheria toxoid (Tdap) is required every 10 years

Covid Vaccine two doses

Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test

Valid Class 5 Driver License & must be willing to take shifts at sites within a reasonable driving distance.

English (oral and written) fluency is a must

Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.

Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)

Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
