Position Summary
The Framer is responsible for the structural framing of residential and commercial construction projects, including walls, floors, roof systems, and sheathing. Working as part of a framing crew, this role focuses on production, accuracy, and the safe execution of work against framing plans, contributing directly to the quality and timeline of every build.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lay out and construct walls, floors, roof systems, and other structural framing components in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret framing plans, blueprints, and construction documents.
- Cut, fit, and install dimensional lumber, engineered wood products (LVLs, I‑joists, trusses), and sheathing materials.
- Operate framing tools safely and effectively, including nail guns, circular saws, framing squares, and levels.
- Set up and work from scaffolding, ladders, and elevated work platforms in compliance with fall protection requirements.
- Maintain accurate measurements and ensure work meets quality standards and applicable building code requirements.
- Identify and communicate site issues, drawing discrepancies, or material shortages to the site team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site at all times.
- Support and collaborate with other trades on site to keep the project moving.
- Other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Open to all experience levels—from apprentice through journeyman.
- Demonstrated ability in, or strong interest in, wood-frame residential and/or commercial framing.
- Ability to read and interpret framing drawings and construction documents.
- Comfort and proficiency with framing tools, materials, and methods.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work effectively as part of a crew.
- Valid Class G driver’s license and reliable transportation to site.
- Working at Heights training from a Chief Prevention Officer–approved provider (or willingness to complete prior to start).
- WHMIS 2015 certification (or willingness to complete prior to start).
- Worker Health & Safety Awareness Training under O. Reg. 297/13 (or willingness to complete prior to start).
Working Conditions
- On-site work at active construction projects in Kingston, Ontario.
- Physically demanding role involving lifting, climbing, prolonged standing, and working at heights.
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Reports to senior management.
- Must comply with relevant legislation including OHSA, WSIB, PIPEDA, and ESA.

Pay: $18.00-$26.00 per hour
