Position Overview
The Operations Analyst, performs data or financial analysis for various operational functions. Generates financial entries and/or reviews processes and/or financial transactions created by Operations associates. Ensures data or financial transactions are accurate and logical. Investigates and explains variances to Operations’ management or other downstream data users. Works with manager to identify key risks in existing processes and help establish effective processes and controls.

RGA-Business Development Managers of Continental European offices
RGA-Pricing/Actuarial Department
External-Appropriate contacts at client companies

Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform data or financial analysis. Explain results and provide additional analysis as requested. Use query tools to develop new and enhance existing queries to solve for a specific problem statement given. Ensure accuracy of results and conclusions.
Identify, research and explain variances between actual and expected results. Research data that is inconsistent or questionable. Respond to question from downstream users and Operations Management with sufficient research and validation of responses
Complete reconciliations, reviews and other requests as well as participate in other projects or initiatives including urgent financial or other requests.
Serve as a subject matter expert to both associates and management for current processes as well as new processes. May include testing and assisting with implementation
Develop effective working relationships with local office and colleagues across the organization to ensure both client and internal customer needs are met.
Actively seek enhancements and make recommendations for new processes to improve efficiencies or rectify inaccuracies or information gaps. Assist with small to medium sized client projects.
Document and follow operations procedures and adhere to SOX process controls
Provide assistance and ensure transparency in the communication to key internal and external clients e.g., IT, business development, actuarial.
Perform ad hoc tasks and projects as requested.


Qualifications and Experience:
3-5 years’ experience in analyzing data
3-5 years’ in Insurance/Reinsurance or equivalent financial services experience
Post -secondary education or equivalent with a background in business, mathematics, economics or accounting.

Progress toward FLMI, ARA, ALHC or other relevant professional accreditation

Skills and Attributes:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical content clearly to stakeholders.
Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills
Intermediate SQL and Query Skills
Change initiation skills
Gathers and analyzes data to identify and solve problems that arise with little or no precedent.
Has developed breadth and/or depth of skills in a range of processes, procedures and systems.
Takes responsibility for quality, completeness and accuracy of work
Other languages skills would be an asset (Spanish, Italian, Arabic, German)
Highly motivated, results oriented and solutions focused
Ability to work effectively under pressure
