Graphic Designer @ Rexall Solutions — St. Catharines, Canada:
Rexall Solutions is a Canadian-owned chemical manufacturer, packager, and private labeller. For more than 20 years, we have been formulating, blending, filling, and labelling products for customers across the industrial, automotive, aerosol, cleaning, laboratory, and construction markets — including several of North America's best-known coatings brands. We are certified by Intertek and ANAB.
The role:
We are hiring a Graphic Designer to join our team. You will own the artwork that goes on our products and the materials that sell them — private label packaging for customer brands, our own product lines, retail displays, technical documents, and marketing collateral. This is as much a hands-on production design role as a creative one. Chemical packaging carries regulated content: hazard pictograms, signal words, precautionary statements, net contents, and bilingual copy must be correct, legible, and correctly placed. You will work closely with our regulatory, production, and sales teams to get it right the first time.
What you will do:
- Design and prepare print-ready artwork for labels, cartons, aerosol cans, pails, drums, and shrink sleeves
- Adapt customer-supplied brand guidelines into compliant, production-ready private label packaging
- Lay out WHMIS 2015 / GHS label elements — pictograms, signal words, hazard and precautionary statements — working from content supplied by our regulatory team
- Prepare bilingual (English / French) layouts and manage copy fit across both languages
- Build dielines, manage colour separations and spot colours, and prepare files to each printer's specifications
- Design retail displays and planograms, sell sheets, trade show graphics, catalogues, and product photography treatments
- Format technical documents — Safety Data Sheets, technical data sheets, application guides
- Maintain the artwork library, version control, and revision history across active SKUs
- Coordinate proofs with printers and suppliers, and check press proofs against approved artwork
What you bring:
- 2+ years of graphic design experience with a focus on packaging, labels, or print production
- Strong command of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Working knowledge of prepress: bleeds, trapping, overprint, spot vs. process colour, resolution, and file preparation for flexo, litho, and digital printing
- Precision with detail
- Comfort working inside someone else's brand guidelines, and the judgment to know when to ask rather than assume
- Ability to manage many small projects at once and keep versions straight
- A portfolio showing packaging or print production work
Helpful, not required:
- Experience with regulated packaging — chemical, cosmetic, food, or pharmaceutical
- Familiarity with WHMIS 2015, GHS, or CLP label requirements
- French language ability
- Photography, video editing
- Experience with web and social content, or with product data management systems
