Prepares food for service in a fast-food or short-order setting following pre-set guidelines. Measures, mixes, and seasons menu items according to the facility's standards. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Performs a variety of tasks.


  • Knowledge of governmental health regulations and food safety
  • Food handling and sanitation knowledge is also vital
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained in the kitchen
  • Operate griddles, deep-fat fryers, grills and Pizza oven and other large-volume equipment for cooking
  • Take orders from clients regarding their preferred foods and drinks, and also help to collect payment from customers when such needs arise
  • Prepare food and package it properly to be delivered to customers


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment without losing composure
  • Professional cooking skills: The cook must have a strong knowledge of professional cooking practice, including handling knifes and ensuring safety of food, team members, and customers
  • Good communication skills: The line cook must be able to pass ideas and information clearly to colleagues, food servers, customers, and management without being misunderstood
  • Experienced cook with proven skills.


  • Able to stand on your feet for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift heavy boxes, cans and or other bulk items
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Must be able to start immediately
