The ESL Program invites applicants for Sessional Instructor appointments for Fall 2026. Pending class availability, successful candidate(s) may teach in the EAP Program (12-week semester), LINC program (12-week semester or 6-week semester) or short-term programs (3-week or 5-week programs). Classes are delivered through a combination of fully in-person, HyFlex and/ or fully remote modalities. Number of hours and timing of classes is variable, with a mixture of daytime (morning), daytime (afternoon) or evening classes.
We are also accepting applications for our substitute instructor list. Hours are variable dependent on need.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- An M.Ed. or M.A. in TESL or a related field (a B.Ed. or B.A. in a related field is the minimum requirement)
- TESL Accreditation such as TESL Canada or TESL Sask (TESL Canada Level 1 is the minimum requirement)
- Knowledge of second language acquisition and teaching methodology
- Experience in teaching English as a Second Language, including within an integrated skills EAP program and/ or Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) courses
- Proven ability to work at different levels (basic, intermediate or advanced)
- Experience in curriculum development
- Knowledge of the Canadian Language Benchmarks
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Demonstration of a creative and reflective approach to language teaching
- Experience teaching in a multi-cultural environment
- Experience teaching through remote or Hybrid delivery an asset
