The Registered Nurse (RN) works on an acute surgical unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) providing care to primary Arthroplasty patients in a collaborative environment. Reporting to the Staffing Service Centre Relief Team Program Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive patient and family centered care on an acute surgical unit in accordance with Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) and Alberta Health Services (AHS) policy and procedures. PCU 410 and 310 are 20 bed units providing care to primary Arthroplasty patients. Patients are largely received from the operating room, but may also come from the emergency department, and directly from medical clinics. These units work under a collaborative care nursing model on all shifts with RNs, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Health Care Aides working together to provide patient care. All RNs will have the opportunity to work to their full scope of practice within hospital policy which includes complex patient assessment and management, leadership, interprofessional collaboration, and charge. In this position RNs will direct and monitor the care provided by Health Care Aides and support their LPN peers.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
