Gateway Trailer Repairs is seeking an exceptional Shop Manager to lead our heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance operation in North Calgary.
This is not simply a production management position. We are looking for a true leader who understands that taking care of employees and customers is the foundation of a successful business.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing a truck and trailer repair facility, strong operational knowledge, and a proven ability to build high-performing teams through respect, accountability, positivity, and professionalism.

What You'll DoLeadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technicians, apprentices, service advisors, and support personnel.
- Create and maintain a positive, people-first work environment.
- Foster strong employee engagement, morale, accountability, and teamwork.

Operations Management
- Oversee daily shop operations including workflow, productivity, scheduling, and quality control.
- Ensure repairs and maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
- Coordinate labor resources, parts availability, and shop capacity to maximize efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators and operational metrics.
- Support growth initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
Customer Experience
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ensure customers receive exceptional service and consistent communication.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and effectively.
- Maintain a customer-first mindset that reflects our commitment to service excellence.
Team Development

Required Qualifications
- Significant experience managing a commercial truck and/or trailer repair facility.
- Strong understanding of heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing technicians and support staff.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong teams and maintain positive workplace culture.
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused during high-pressure situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic, Trailer Mechanic, or equivalent trade certification.
- Red Seal Certification preferred.
- Experience managing medium to large fleet maintenance operations.
- Experience with maintenance management software and shop management systems.
- Business, operations, or leadership training is considered an asset.
Exceptional candidates with substantial industry and leadership experience will be considered even if they do not possess a Journeyman designation.
