Peace by Chocolate is a Canadian chocolate company based in Nova Scotia selling premium, locally made chocolate bars and artisanal truffles, along with other treats, drinks, and merchandise.
This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the retail store while supporting the Retail Supervisor in achieving operational excellence, sales performance, and an exceptional customer experience. The Store Coordinator leads the store team during assigned shifts, ensures company policies and procedures are followed, and maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail environment.
This is a full-time position and may be scheduled to work any day from Monday through Sunday. This position works under the direct supervision of the Retail Supervisor. Travel is not required. Overtime may occur, may be last minute in nature, and when required, is a condition of continued employment.

Previous retail leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
1. Team Leadership and Staff Support
On a daily basis:
- Lead and support the retail team during assigned shifts.
- Coach staff and answer operational questions while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
- Ensure all staff comply with company policies, procedures, and uniform requirements.
- Promote teamwork and assist in resolving day-to-day operational challenges.
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Provide guidance and constructive feedback to team members.
- Support the Retail Supervisor in maintaining employee performance standards.
2. Sales Performance
On a daily basis:
- Monitor daily sales performance and assist the team in achieving sales goals.
- Encourage upselling and ensure compliance with the company's customer service standards.
- Monitor individual staff sales performance and contests established by the Retail Supervisor.
- Motivate staff to maximize sales opportunities while delivering excellent customer service.
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Identify opportunities to improve sales performance and communicate recommendations to the Retail Supervisor.
3. Inventory Management
On a daily basis:
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure products remain fully stocked.
- Rotate products using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
- Identify products requiring replenishment and prepare draft purchase orders for the Retail Supervisor.
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Assist with inventory counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Help prevent stock shortages and overstock situations.
4. Customer Experience
On a daily basis:
- Ensure customers receive exceptional service at all times.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support staff in handling complex customer inquiries or complaints.
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Identify opportunities to improve the overall customer experience.
5. Cash Handling and Financial Controls
On a daily basis:
- Oversee cash counts and cash handling procedures.
- Prepare bank deposits and reconcile daily cash transactions.
- Maintain petty cash records accurately and securely.
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Report discrepancies immediately and assist with investigations when required.
6. Store Operations
On a daily basis:
- Ensure all opening and closing procedures are completed accurately.
- Ensure security systems and alarm procedures are followed.
- Ensure delivery platforms and ordering applications remain connected and operational throughout business hours.
- Monitor overall store operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Assist in resolving operational issues as they arise.
- Communicate operational concerns to the Retail Supervisor.
7. Merchandising and Store Presentation
On a daily basis:
- Ensure displays remain fully stocked, organized, clean, and visually appealing.
- Maintain merchandising standards consistent with the Peace by Chocolate brand.
- Monitor product freshness and rotate inventory appropriately.
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Assist with seasonal displays, promotions, and merchandising changes.
8. Training and Staff Development
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Assist the Retail Supervisor with onboarding and training new employees.
- Support ongoing staff development by reinforcing company procedures and customer service expectations.
- Encourage continuous learning and product knowledge.
9. Reporting and Communication
On a daily basis:
- Communicate inventory updates, maintenance issues, and operational concerns to the Retail Supervisor.
- Complete required operational reports accurately and on time.
On an ongoing and/or as needed basis:
- Assist with store audits and ensure operational documentation is maintained.
- Ensure cleaning schedules, food safety records, and audit-related paperwork are completed and up to date.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
