SOLIDWORKS CAD TECHNICIAN / INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER (ON-SITE)

We are seeking an experienced Solidworks CAD Technician / Industrial Designer to join our team in Concord, Ontario. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting the design and engineering of custom retail displays and store fixtures. Role Overview:
Working closely with the Department Supervisor, you will transform creative concepts into manufacturable products. You will prepare SolidWorks models, fabrication drawings, production work orders, and engineering documentation that directly support manufacturing. Your time will be split between technical drawing and detailing (80%) and creative design (20%).
Core Responsibilities:
Drafting & Modeling: Create detailed fabrication drawings from hand sketches and design renderings and convert legacy AutoCAD files into 3D SolidWorks models within a PDM environment.
Data Integrity: Maintain precise Bill of Materials (BOM) data, follow company PDM drafting standards, and align engineering packages with active production work orders.
Documentation & Design: Generate assembly/installation instructions, lay out production artwork in Adobe Creative Suite, and build 3D client presentations using KeyShot.
Required Technical Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of professional Solidworks experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the retail display/store fixture industry is strongly preferred. Candidates with comparable custom manufacturing or fabrication experience will also be considered.
- Advanced proficiency with Solidworks best practices, including PDM, sheet metal, weldments, and millwork design is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles for metal, wire, and wood fabrication.
- Diploma or degree in CAD Technology, Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat), and KeyShot.

- This is a full-time, on-site position in Concord, ON. Applicants must be able to reliably commute to our facility.
- A portfolio demonstrating both 3D renderings and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings is required.
- Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a brief practical SolidWorks proficiency assessment.
Monday-Thursday 7:30am - 5:00pm, Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm
Pay: $55,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
