Job Summary
This position works in close collaboration with other members of the Library and Information Services team to provide library and information services to staff and physicians within NL Health Services. The Librarian's duties will include conducting expert literature searching and providing in-depth reference services; promoting services/research tools in a virtual work environment; developing and implementing in-person and virtual instruction and outreach initiatives; supporting the development of new library and information services, including consumer health library services; working with electronic library vendors and technologies; and serving on various internal and external committees. The position may also include duties such as participation in document delivery, collection development,
cataloguing and classification, evaluating library services, and maintaining statistics.

Job Qualifications
Completion of a Master's degree in Library and Information Services/Sciences is required.
Graduate degree in Library and Information Sciences from an American Library Association accredited school of Library and Information Science is required.
Coursework in Health Sciences Librarianship and/or an undergraduate degree in the Health Sciences would be an asset.
Three years of experience within the last five providing research and reference services is required.
Experience as a professional librarian including liaising with health professionals and promoting library services and resources would be an asset.
Experience with library catalogues and knowledge of cataloguing and classification rules is required.
Proficiency in and familiarity with a variety of electronic resources, for example: CINAHL; PubMed; UpToDate; Clinical Skills; and eJournals/eBooks is required.
Knowledge of document request routing and referral systems, such as DOCLINE would be an asset.
Familiarity with current issues and library best practices in applying Canadian copyright law would be an asset.
Knowledge and understanding of best practices, current issues, and trends in health and/or hospital libraries.
Ability to thrive in an evolving area of librarianship, as evidenced by creative and analytical thinking and problem-solving.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver library instruction and/or community engagement programs for use in a virtual environment. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, diversity and equity in an information services environment.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as collaborate with team members and stakeholders, both in person and in a virtual environment.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
Demonstrated skill in supporting electronic resources, including troubleshooting technical and access problems.
