Job Description
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, collaboratively providing top quality service to our customers in support of their projects. Proveo personnel will be capable of managing operational risk and achieving strategic health and safety goals. This includes working with the client and contractors to control hazards, respond to incidents, comply with policies, standards, procedures, and legislation, and take proactive measures to improve the Health and Safety of all personnel working on location.
Key Responsibilities
- Representing Proveo in a professional and ethical manner.
- Supporting Corporate Health & Safety, Work Methods, and Technical Training areas.
- Reporting incidents or any near miss immediately to a manager and/or Supervisor. Upholding Management practices to achieve a positive, resilient safety culture.
- Demonstrate high levels of performance, self-discipline, safety, accountability, focus,
achievement oriented, and an ‘easy to do business’ with manner of working.
- Monitoring, support and subject matter expertise in Confined Space Operations
- Utilizing our state-of-the-art remote monitoring system to uphold all legislated responsibilities of confined space attendants
- Installation Verification/testing Operation of technology
- Training and education of contractors on site
Qualifications
- Due to the safety sensitive nature of our services candidates must be fluent (read, write, speak) English to a native speaker proficiency.
- Must be proficient with computers (an aptitude test will be used to determine suitability for computer intensive positions)
- Previous Experience in an Industrial Safety Setting
- Preference will be given to individuals with 5+ years oil and gas experience.
- Maintain good standing in all basic safety tickets and ESC specific safety tickets (required - H2S Alive, ESC Confined Space, Standard First Aid. preferred - Fall Protection).
- Must demonstrate competency with gas detection, breathing, and fire suppression equipment
- Strong understanding of all Health & Safety regulatory requirements
- Preference given to Fort McMurray residents following Proveo’s commitment to local community development
- Preferred experience performing confined space activities either as an entrant or a monitor.
Physical demands of this position
The role of Remote Confined Space Monitoring Technician is a very physically demanding one. It requires the movement, placement, installation, inspection and maintenance of electronic equipment. For your safety, you must be able to perform the following duties continuously throughout a 12-hour shift in both hot and cold temperature environments:
- Lifting and Carrying 50 lbs
- Pushing and Pulling 50 lbs
- Trunk Rotation
- Walking uneven grounds
- Climbing ladders
- Working at heights +\- 100 ft
- Crouching and Squatting
- Wear a respirator
- Maneuvering through manways of confined spaces
- The completion of a WCB Physical Demands Analysis may be required by your physician.
