Mammography Technologist (Casual) – Flexible Hours
Job Overview
Oshawa Clinic Group is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Mammography Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team on a casual basis. This position is ideal for a technologist looking for flexible scheduling opportunities while continuing to provide high-quality breast imaging services in a supportive clinical environment.
The Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic mammography examinations using specialized imaging equipment to assist in the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of breast conditions. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care, as many patients may experience anxiety or concerns related to their imaging appointment.
The successful candidate will provide excellent patient experiences while ensuring high-quality imaging, radiation safety, confidentiality, and adherence to professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations in accordance with physician requests and established protocols.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain the mammography process, obtain relevant history, and support patient comfort throughout the examination.
- Perform accurate breast positioning and compression techniques to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Operate mammography equipment and ensure images meet quality standards for interpretation.
- Review images for technical quality and repeat imaging when required to ensure optimal diagnostic results.
- Maintain radiation safety practices and follow all applicable policies and procedures.
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and patient-centred care during sensitive examinations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and patient records in accordance with clinic standards and PHIPA requirements.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare team members to support quality patient care.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain compliance with applicable mammography standards.
- Maintain knowledge of current mammography techniques, technology advancements, and best practices through ongoing learning.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring of students or new team members as required.
- Perform other duties as required to support the needs of the Diagnostic Imaging department.
Qualifications & Skills
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
- Demonstrated competency and experience performing mammography examinations.
- Strong knowledge of mammography techniques, breast positioning, and image quality standards.
- Experience with PACS, RIS, and electronic health record systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on patient care.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Work Environment
- Outpatient clinical environment with regular patient interaction.
- Work alongside physicians, technologists, and administrative healthcare professionals.

Hours & Compensation
- Casual position with flexible scheduling opportunities based on departmental needs.
- Day shifts, in-person.
- Hours may vary and can include coverage for vacation, sick time, leaves of absence, and additional clinic needs.
- The current position is casual in nature and there are no guaranteed hours each week, however it is expected that the incumbent will be assigned about two days per week on average. Hours are of work are generally 8 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, and will generally be 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, based on operational needs.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Work locations include Diagnostic Imaging sites within Oshawa Clinic Group.
- Compensation is an hourly rate of pay based on experience, knowledge, and skills relevant to the position.
