Power Engineer / Refrigeration Engineer

Position Overview
The Coast Tsimshian Fish Plant is seeking a motivated and reliable Power Engineer to join our
engineering team. This position is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance,
and troubleshooting of our ammonia refrigeration system and associated plant equipment.
This is a hands-on role in a seafood processing facility and is ideal for someone who enjoys
working independently, solving mechanical problems, and being part of a small team in a unique
coastal community.
Schedule
● Approximately 40–60 hours per week
● Hours will vary depending on vessel arrivals, production schedules, and plant
requirements
● Shift work is required, including evenings, weekends, and on-call coverage as needed
● Schedules will be arranged to provide at least one day per week for travel into Prince
Rupert when ferry schedules permit
Responsibilities
● Operate, monitor, and maintain the plant's ammonia refrigeration system
● Monitor compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, and associated refrigeration
equipment
● Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance
● Respond to equipment alarms and troubleshoot operational issues
● Maintain accurate operating logs and maintenance records
● Assist with plant utilities and general mechanical maintenance as required
● Ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and company
policies
● Participate in emergency response procedures related to refrigeration systems
● Work closely with production and management teams to support plant operations
Qualifications
● Valid Power Engineering certification (preference given to candidates with refrigeration
experience)
● Experience working with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems is considered a strong
asset
● Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
● Commitment to workplace safety
● Valid driver's license preferred

Lax Kw'alaams is a remote coastal community accessible primarily by ferry from Prince Rupert.
While the community is isolated, groceries and supplies can be delivered to the community, and
transportation schedules are coordinated to allow employees regular access to Prince Rupert
for shopping and personal appointments.
This position offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a beautiful coastal environment
while gaining valuable experience operating industrial refrigeration systems in a year-round
seafood processing facility.
