SB Canada is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Project Controls Specialist to join our
organization. The Project Controls Specialist will report to the Vice Presidents of Project Delivery
for the East and Prairie Regions and is responsible in providing project control support to all
Project Teams (Delivery and Operations) ensuring effective management of project schedules
and cost control mechanisms. Preferred location will be to work from our head office in Hamilton,
ON but consideration would also be made for Western Canada candidates to work from one of
the western branch locations.

As a Project Controls Specialist, the Employee is required to perform the duties outlined as
Schedule “A”.

Schedule “A” – Project Controls Specialist - Duties

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION
 Work independently and as a team member by acting as a strong internal resource to all
Project Teams to support the effective management of project schedules and cost control
mechanisms
 Lead internal and external client reporting for multiple projects
 Develop programs and provide support for management of internal resource
commitments including personal and equipment
 Support Project change management duties as required
 Develop and maintain corporate KPIs relevant to the position function
 Develop site specific Project Control Plans
 Work with Project Delivery teams to identify and suggest corrective measures to maintain
costs within targeted budget
 Develop, deploy and provide stewardship of company training programs relevant to the
position function for all stakeholders
 Develop and deploy corporate policy relevant to position function where required
 Support the West (British Columbia) Project teams, as required
 Periodic travel to other offices and project sites as required
 Be an active participant in SB Canada’s Health and Safety Program

QUALIFICATIONS
 Post secondary degree or Diploma in engineering, finance, business or project
administration
 Minimum 5 years experience in similar Project Controls role
 2-3 years in a Piling/Deep Foundations or Heavy Civil environment would be considered
an asset
 Proficient in Microsoft Projects, specifically resource loading and critical path method
 Familiarity with Bid2 Win Software and Primavera would be considered an asset
 Well-developed interpersonal customer service and relationship-building skills
 Good oral and written English-language skills
 Strong organizational and time-management skills
 Self-motivated, energetic and reliable with a positive disposition
 The ability to work under pressure and to prioritize work effectively
 Strong attention to detail
 Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
