A LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH PURPOSE AND REACH
The Evergreens Foundation is seeking an accomplished, people-centered Director of Operations to provide leadership and oversight for our Lodge and Regional Housing Operations across west-central Alberta.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director will translate strategy into action—aligning people, systems, resources and service standards across a diverse, multi-site portfolio.
The successful candidate will be a strategic and hands-on leader with a visible and trusted operational presence: someone who can see the whole organization, support leaders at the local level and ensure commitments become measurable results.
YOUR MANDATE
The Director of Operations is accountable for the effective, consistent and resident-centered delivery of lodge and regional housing operations. The Director establishes clear operational direction, strengthens accountability across sites, develops capable leaders and ensures that regulatory, financial, safety and service expectations are met.
Working closely with the CAO, fellow directors and operational leaders, the Director will help position the Foundation for the future—modernizing practices, improving performance, managing change and building organizational capacity to serve growing and evolving community needs.
WHAT YOU WILL LEAD
- Strategic and enterprise leadership: Turn the Foundation's strategic priorities into clear operational plans, measurable outcomes, and practical advice to senior leadership.
- Lodge and housing operations: Oversee lodge and regional housing operations across all communities, including building maintenance, food and beverage services, and housekeeping, ensuring these essential functions are safe, consistent, efficient, and responsive to residents and tenants.
- Operational Leadership: Lead and support a geographically dispersed team of more than 200 employees by building leadership capacity, accountability and engagement.
- Performance and continuous improvement: Use data, feedback, and operational insight to strengthen service quality, consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Financial stewardship: Oversee operational budgets, forecasts, contracts, and resource planning to ensure responsible use of funds and long-term sustainability.
- Compliance, safety, and risk: Ensure operations meet regulatory, policy, safety, and risk management requirements across all sites.
- Relationships and community presence: Build trusted relationships with residents, tenants, employees, municipalities, partners, and community stakeholders, while maintaining a visible presence across the region.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A relevant post-secondary degree - or an equivalent combination of education and senior leadership experience.
- Seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience in complex, multi-site, or regionally distributed operations.
- A proven ability to lead leaders, strengthen accountability, improve performance, and guide change.
- Strong operational and financial acumen, including budgeting, workforce planning, performance measurement, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Experience in seniors housing, supportive living, community or social housing, healthcare, hospitality, municipal services, or another high-accountability service environment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, or the ability to build that knowledge quickly.
- Experience in a unionized, public-sector, or not-for-profit environment is an asset.
- Sound judgement, integrity, and the ability to navigate complex issues with confidence and discretion.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across a wide range of audiences.
- A valid Alberta driver's licence and the ability to travel regularly throughout the Foundation's operating region.
LOCATION AND TRAVEL
