Job Description– Installation Foreman (Install Team Leader)

Basic Function: The Installation Foreman position is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of his/her service team:

  • All matters relating to the efficient and effective operation of his/her install team
  • Installation work done by Blue Jay Sprinkler Systems Inc. which includes, but is not limited to, the supply of all materials, labour and scheduling for all Residential, Commercial and Golf work
  • For all quality control issues, warranty related or otherwise
  • For ensuring the maintenance, upkeep and repair of all facilities, equipment, and vehicles owned, leased or otherwise under the control of Blue Jay used for service and customer care purposes
  • Participate in all training programs that are provided by Blue Jay Irrigation
  • Must maintain an appearance appropriate for the position and situation

Installation

  • Fully responsible for the day to day operations of his/her install team
  • Direct and oversee the supervision of installation team personnel to achieve pre-set levels of performance in terms of quantity and quality of work produced
  • Inspire installation team to superior performance
  • Ensures team recognize the customer is the first priority
  • Monitor and mange accuracy of installation teams work
  • Participate in daily installation team meetings
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all Team Leaders and Team Members from the installation teams as well as staff members from other departments
  • Endeavour to build employee moral at all times
  • Ensure installation team personnel always are doing a task, no down time
  • Supply support to installation team members when required
  • Monitor & Manage personnel throughout the job
  • Implement installations best practices as per Blue Jay Install Process
  • Quickly respond to quality control issues, warranty related or otherwise
  • Be aware of all public and private utilities, follow proper procedure when crossing
  • Be aware of jobsite safety requirements (PPE, working at heights, WHMIS) ensure team members are aware and follow requirements
  • Report all issues to the Installation Manager along with a plan to rectify the issue, if its an HR issue, report to the General Manager
  • Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner, keeping open lines of communication with customers and/or contractors to develop relationships and maintain strong customer retention
  • Ensure you show and educate clients about their new irrigation system, be thorough in answering questions, do not rush the final walk through
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the installation fleet is up kept within predetermined budgetary guidelines
  • Establish, monitor and enforce the security procedures in place at Blue Jay Sprinkler Systems Inc. to protect the corporate assets as per Blue Jay Employee Handbook Guidelines.
  • Monitor and manager your inventory on a daily basis to minimize handling, storage, damage costs, and waste
  • Complete all paper work required (job costing sheet, as built, inventory document) at the end of every day
  • Use the company vehicle for company purposes only at all times

Training/Health & Safety

  • Ensure that all assigned employees are thoroughly trained in their duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure installation team members are attending weekly, monthly and annual Health & Safety meetings
  • Ensure all Health & Safety Documentation and WHMIS data sheets are kept up to date and are in the installation truck binder
  • Compete circle check, completing truck inspections forms and submitting forms to administration on a daily basis
  • Ensure installation team members are following Blue Jay Sprinkler Systems Inc. & jobsite regulations and procedures

  • The candidate of Installation Team Leader should have some sort of post-secondary education with a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • The candidate should have or be striving to receive their Certified Irrigation Technicians designation from the Irrigation Association
  • The candidate must have 5 years of experience in the irrigation industry
  • Must have field experience with computer scheduling software
  • Must have the skills and knowledge to keep all lines of communication open between all of the departments at Blue Jay Irrigation
  • The sense of sight, speech (English), and hearing are required, must posses excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Needs to be able to effectively communicate with employees of varying education levels
  • Must be a leader who can inspire employees to superior performance
  • Can prioritize the workloads of the reporting employees
  • Must have previous experience dealing with training programs, WHMIS, safety regulations and procedures

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand and/or walk and/or dig for long period of time while completing other duties and responsibilities
  • The candidate must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands to finger, handle, and feel objects such as computer or installation equipment
  • The ability to bend the body, to reach for objects, and to crouch when needed is also required
  • The candidate must have command of four senses: sight, hearing, touch, and smell
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • The candidate must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Working Conditions:

  • The normal workday will be from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, however, the hours may be long when specific projects are due, thus some extended schedules will be necessary
  • Will work in an outdoor environments
  • Extensive travel will be necessary, as well as minor job-to-job travel, a truck will be provided.

Supervises: Install Assistant Team Leader, Install Team Member

Authority:

  • The Installation Team Leader receives authority from the Installation Manager
  • The authority for direction and evaluation of all reporting personnel

Reporting Relationships: The Installation Team Leader reports directly to and is fully accountable to the Installation Manager.

Education:

  • Completion of a preferred degree or diploma at an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • Completion of a high school diploma at an accredited secondary school or approved equivalent
