Position Summary: We seek a versatile and experienced professional to fill the dual role of Project Manager/Estimator. This hybrid position is crucial in driving our estimation efforts and managing construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in both project management and cost estimation, with a strong understanding of the construction industry and a proven track record of delivering accurate bids and effective project oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, covering all expenses and contingencies.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project requirements and develop precise budget forecasts.
- Utilize advanced estimating techniques and software to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and labour rates.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to gather and analyze bids, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Present and discuss cost estimates with senior management and clients, clearly explaining methodologies.
- Participate in bid reviews and negotiations, offering strategic insights to enhance Iris’s competitive edge.
Project Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee construction projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Manage project budgets, including tracking expenses and ensuring projects remain within financial constraints.
- Supervise and direct construction teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring adherence to project plans and safety standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the construction process.
- Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to provide project updates and address concerns.
- Prepare and present project reports, including progress updates, cost analyses, and risk assessments.
- Ensure that all project documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction estimating, particularly in commercial design and build projects.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction project management or coordination.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam) and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of guiding a team and collaborating effectively with stakeholders.
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to Winnipeg, MB.
- Valid driver’s license and readiness for minor travel as needed.
