About the Role
We are seeking a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our fast-paced shop in Red Deer. This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy-duty trucks, oilfield equipment, and trailers that support active field operations. The schedule for this role is 10 hour days on a rotation of 8 days on / 6 days off, with overtime as required.
The ideal candidate would have a working knowledge of TDG, is safety-focused, mechanically skilled, and comfortable working in a demanding shop environment where equipment uptime is critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks, oilfield equipment, and trailers
- Perform preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs to minimize downtime
- Perform CVIP inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
- Accurately complete work orders, inspection forms, and maintenance documentation
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Qualifications & Experience
- Journeyman certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Valid Class 5 licence with clean abstract (Class 1 or 3 would be considered an asset)
- CVIP inspection licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced oilfield shop environment
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and safety
- Knowledge of TDG regulations would be an asset
- Willingness to work extended hours during the winter season
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
