Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Journeyman Electrician to join our renewable energy team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in large-scale solar projects. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical knowledge, solar installation experience, a positive attitude, a solid work ethic, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on the largest rooftop solar system in Canada while working in a dynamic and safety-conscious environment.
The successful candidate will work alongside fellow Journeyman Electricians and Apprentices to complete electrical installation on a large rooftop solar project in Balzac.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support apprentices in the safe and efficient completion of electrical work.
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently for assembly, mounting, and electrical installation tasks.
- Conduct safety inspections throughout the installation process and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within scope.
- Complete electrical installation including solar modules, inverters, disconnects, conduit, and associated equipment.
- Pull wire, terminate conductors, and mount electrical equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and site plans.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues as they arise.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite.
- Follow all company safety procedures and site requirements.
- Assist in loading and unloading of tools and materials onto rooftop as needed.
- Support the electrical crew with day-to-day tasks on site.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable electrical codes and project requirements.
Experience
- Previous solar installation experience preferred.
- Understanding of solar inverters, PV systems, and renewable energy products.
- Experience in commercial or industrial installations and large equipment hook-ups.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor apprentices.
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Physically fit and able to lift, squat, and stand for long durations. Must be able to move 50+ lbs repeatedly.
- Commitment to safety standards and quality workmanship.
- Must be a certified Journeyman/woman Electrician in Alberta.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the jobsite.
- Fall Protection certificate preferred.
- First Aid considered an asset.
