THE OPPORTUNITY:
Pheasant Glen Golf Resort is launching an exciting new restaurant concept within the Clubhouse, Coyote Bills & The Dutton Chop House and is looking for an experienced Beverage | Bar Manager to lead the beverage program for the restaurant, outdoor patios and event spaces.
The restaurant is a key component of the new Clubhouse and is the vibrant heart of Pheasant Glen Golf Resort, offering a welcoming space to relax and connect, where you can savour West Coast-inspired cuisine, enjoy drinks on the expansive decks, or celebrate a special event.
The restaurant and food & beverage facilities will consist of:
- Restaurant with 100 seats indoors
- Patio seating for 200, 100 enclosed and 100 seats open
- Conference room with licensing for up to 200 guests
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Beverage | Bar Manager will be a key leadership role for multiple new Food & Beverage operations at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort, responsible for building a new launch-ready beverage program and developing all wine, beer and beverage menus, including cocktails and non-alcoholic offerings.
The Beverage | Bar Manager will be responsible for all beverage purchasing, inventory management, beverage cost control, vendor relationships and ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, health codes, and sanitation regulations.
The Position will ensure efficient and consistent beverage service and provide leadership to their team by being service focused and exemplifying the highest level of professional conduct and personal ethics.
Additionally, the Position will work with the Restaurant Manager to provide education to the service and bar team staff related to the wine and cocktail menus to ensure consistent and memorable guest experiences that align with the brand.
Pheasant Glen Golf Resort is looking for the ideal leadership candidate as an addition to the management team, someone who understands the importance of a well curated and executed beverage program to the overall dining experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Full beverage menu development, including showcasing local BC VQA wines, regional craft beers and locally distilled spirits along regular and international selections ensuring they align with the brand standard.
o Develop all standard cocktail recipes, including preparation & presentation techniques, to ensure consistent quality, minimize waste, maintain beverage costs and exercise portion control.
o Lead and administer the day-to-day functions of all bar and beverage operations.
o Recruit, train and mentor the beverage service team.
o Create and develop training programs related to all wine, cocktail and bar menu items and provide coaching to both the beverage and service team with a focus on high end service standards.
o Complete the scheduling of the bar team and provide supervision to ensure appropriate service levels while being mindful of labour costs.
o Assist in the development and maintaining of standard of performance policies, procedures and systems related to beverage service.
o Establish appropriate par levels, set up vendor accounts and delivery with the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) and other approved local vendors.
o Collaborate with other members of the management team and ensure smooth coordination between the bar team and the service team to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
o Enforce strict adherence to the British Columbia Liquor Control and Licensing Act, local municipal bylaws and ensure the bar and service team understand and adhere to all regulations and mandatory alcoholic service programs.
o Ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures, including those related to Health & Safety standards, practices, and adherence to WorkSafe BC principles and guidelines.
o Manage beverage budgets, monitor beverage purchasing costs, and set up pricing strategies for all beverage items.
o Develop and maintain strategic relationships with vendors, the local business community and residents to be able to anticipate their preferences and make Coyote Bills & The Dutton Chop House the dining destination on the mid island.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
As a Hospitality Leader, you have:
o Minimum three (3) years bar or restaurant management experience, ideally with historical success in opening a new restaurant.
o In-depth knowledge of wine varietals, spirits, and mixology, with a preference in having Certifications like WSET or Sommelier.
o Hospitality Degree or Diploma preferred
o Experience with events and banquets
o Local industry knowledge and existing relationships with local BC wineries, craft breweries, and agents representing commercial distributors.
o Valid FOODSAFE Level 1 certification to oversee general sanitary bar operations.
o Experience and proficiency using point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software.
o Experience with inventory management, budgeting and cost controls.
o Strong leadership and team mentoring skills.
o A reputation for uncompromising professional integrity, personal values, with a focus on customer service excellence.
o Independent self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach to business and able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
- Base salary $65,000 - $75,000 per year, wage offered is determined by multiple factors, including job-related skills and relevant education/experience.
- Benefits package – after first six months of employment
- Opportunity for Short Term Incentive pay (bonus) based on performance and at the sole discretion of the company.
- Annual Vacation – 2 weeks (10 workdays)
