General Manager Tally Ho Inn – Huntsville, Ontario
Position Summary
Tally Ho Inn is a year-round waterfront resort located on beautiful Peninsula Lake in Huntsville, Ontario. We are seeking an energetic, organized, and guest-focused General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our 32-lakefront cottage rental business and ensure an exceptional experience for our guests.
The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of resort operations, including guest services, staff leadership, property maintenance coordination, reservations oversight, financial management, and business development. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who is comfortable working in a dynamic hospitality environment and is committed to delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Customer Service
- Ensure guests receive exceptional service from arrival to departure.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries, concerns, and reviews.
- Resolve customer service issues effectively and maintain high guest satisfaction.
- Foster a welcoming, family-friendly resort atmosphere.
Operations Management
- Oversee the daily operation of the resort, including accommodations, grounds, recreational facilities, and waterfront amenities.
- Coordinate housekeeping, maintenance, landscaping, and seasonal operations.
- Ensure all resort facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Scheduling and payroll
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal and year-round staff.
- Develop work schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, professionalism, and guest satisfaction.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews.
Reservations & Revenue Management
- Oversee reservation systems and booking procedures.
- Monitor occupancy levels and work to maximize revenue opportunities.
- Assist with pricing strategies, promotions, and seasonal packages.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Financial Management
- Manage operating budgets and control expenses.
- Review financial reports and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Approve purchases and monitor inventory levels.
- Assist ownership with annual budgeting and business planning.
Property & Maintenance Oversight
- Coordinate preventative maintenance programs for cottages, buildings, grounds, docks, boats, and recreational facilities.
- Work closely with contractors and service providers.
- Ensure the resort remains in excellent condition year-round.
Marketing & Business Development
- Assist with marketing initiatives, social media, and guest communications.
- Encourage repeat business and guest loyalty.
- Monitor online reviews and maintain the resort's reputation.
- Support local tourism partnerships and community engagement.
Qualifications
- Previous management experience in hospitality, resorts, hotels, vacation rentals, or tourism operations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven customer service experience.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with reservation and property management software is an asset.
- Financial management and budgeting experience preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
