Position Title: Centre Manager
Location: Langara Family YMCA (282 W 49th Ave, Vancouver)
Terms: Permanent Full Time, 35 hours per week
Shifts: Shifts vary but will include weekdays, evenings, and flexibility for weekends
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $55,000-$67,000 per year plus full benefits package
Reports To: VP, Health, Fitness & Aquatics
Nature & Scope:
The Centre Manager will be responsible for the operation of programs and services at the Langara Family YMCA. The successful candidate is a respected leader with significant knowledge and experience in program, sales and service and member experience. This individual is values-driven and believes passionately in the vital role that the YMCA can, and does, play in the community.
The Langara Family YMCA currently serves more than 2,900 people through our modified health and fitness programs and services. In order to meet the current and future needs of our members and the South Vancouver community, a new larger Centre of Community will be built. The redevelopment of a new Centre of Community of this size requires that the existing Langara Family YMCA close during construction, which is forecasted to begin in 18-24 months. All staff and volunteers will have the opportunity to work at an existing YMCA location when the Langara Family YMCA temporarily closes.
Major Responsibilities:

Ensure operational excellence

Maintain high service standards that are reflected in the achievement of annual membership growth, retention targets, and satisfaction ratings. Achieve all quality standards and targets established under YMCA best practices and the YMCA’s Member Experience program.

Provide direct leadership to departmental supervisors

Lead front line staff and volunteers through influence and role modelling
-
Ensure staff have the skills and knowledge required to perform roles in line with expectations of their functions.

Support direct reports in the performance management of staff and volunteer teams.

Ensure the Langara Family YMCA meets the strategic plan and operational goals of the Association
-
Manage and achieve the targets and goals established in the centre’s operating budgets.

Operate as a strong team player sharing leadership and accountability under an integrated management and program delivery model.

Develop and maintain positive relationships and increase involvement of members and community partners

Develop and implement plans to serve and engage the community through discussion, participation and involvement in community groups, committees and partnerships related to the needs of the Vancouver community.

Extend the impact of the YMCA through committed leadership to the YBC-HFA Work Group.

Lead and role model the YMCA's commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism

Provide leadership to the YMCA Annual Campaign at the Langara Family YMCA and achieve targets through direct oversight of recruitment, training, supervision and recognition of campaign staff, volunteers, and donors.

Exemplify the value of philanthropy and volunteerism and share this knowledge and belief with staff, volunteers and members.

Establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and members.

Model behaviour in line with the YMCA Mission, Vision and Values.
Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in management roles, involving responsibility for planning, operations and financial management

Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse membership, staff, volunteers, community, stakeholders and partners

Excellent written communication and public speaking skills

Experience engaging with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds

The ability to prevent and de-escalate medium to high risk behaviour

Demonstrating sensitivity to both visible and invisible aspects of diversity through an intercultural lens/perspective.

Proven leadership of dedicated, high-performance teams

Post-secondary academic credentials and an ongoing commitment to professional development
