About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a 91-year-old woman living independently in Waterloo. She values her independence and privacy, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who can provide respectful, consistent support while encouraging autonomy. She uses a walker for mobility and has a stair lift in her home. Her skin is sensitive, requiring gentle care during bathing. She is hard of hearing, so clear communication is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with bathing once weekly using her tub chair
- Support with mobility and transfers as needed
- Light housekeeping including vacuuming kitchen floors, tidying, and general upkeep
- Laundry and changing bed linens
- Light meal preparation and assistance with dinner prep
- Folding laundry and washing dishes
- Provide companionship and engage in meaningful conversation
- Ensure safety throughout the home
What We're Looking For:
- Certified PSW with verifiable credentials
- Experience supporting seniors with mobility aids (walkers, wheelchairs)
- Personal care experience, particularly with bathing assistance
- Patient, calm demeanor with excellent communication skills
- Ability to speak clearly and be easily understood (client is hard of hearing)
- Reliable, consistent, and punctual
- Takes initiative and anticipates needs
- Respectful of independence while ensuring safety
- Brings positive energy and makes the client feel comfortable
Schedule:
Two 3-hour visits per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, ideally between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM (flexible between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM). Consistency is crucial—the family is seeking the same caregiver for every visit to build trust and familiarity. Fridays and Mondays are unavailable due to cottage visits.
This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of an independent senior who simply needs a helping hand with daily tasks. If you're a skilled, patient caregiver who values building genuine connections, we'd love to hear from you.
