Salary Range: $63,347 to $116,190 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)
Effective Date: September 1, 2026, until not later than June 30, 2027 (or return of the teacher)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.

Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.

Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.

Completed formal undergraduate or post-graduate studies in secondary music teaching

Demonstrated ability to develop and support a music program
-
Demonstrated competence in teaching a quality Instrumental Music Program including Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Guitar at the Secondary School level

Demonstrated ability to play and/or teach a wide variety of music instruments including guitar
-
Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of music genres including classical/concert and jazz
- Demonstrated commitment to creating opportunities for students to perform (e.g. Band festivals, competitions, music theatre, school events, band trips, community events, etc.)

Demonstrated ability to devise and use a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate their learning

Willingness to engage students in exploring post-secondary options through Career Life Education

Demonstrated ability to consistently incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies that maintain the dignity of students with an emphasis on a proactive approach

An exemplary work ethic with proven ability to work as an effective team member

Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for developing positive relationships with adolescents

Proven ability organizational and time management skills, creative problem solving skills, effective team building skills and strong communication skills
