Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Hydraulic & Heavy Equipment Technician to join our growing shop. This role focuses on wetline systems, hydraulic cylinder repairs, mobile crane work, and general heavy equipment repairs. The right person will take ownership of jobs, work independently, and contribute to building a cleaner, more organized, and efficient shop.
Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on hydraulic systems including wetlines, cylinders, booms, pumps, valves, and related components on mobile cranes, heavy equipment, dump trucks, and compactors.
Rebuild and reseal hydraulic cylinders with attention to quality and proper testing.
Perform welding and fabrication work as needed for repairs and custom work.
Diagnose and repair electrical systems on heavy equipment and hydraulic systems (12V/24V), including wiring, controls, sensors, and schematics.
Assist with or perform annual crane inspections (structural, mechanical, and hydraulic) once trained or certified.
Take ownership of jobs from start to finish, including diagnostics, repairs, and final testing.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard environment.
Complete accurate service reports, parts usage, and job documentation.
Communicate clearly with customers and the team regarding job status and recommendations.
Requirements
Strong hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, preferably on mobile equipment, cranes, or heavy trucks.
Solid welding and fabrication skills (MIG and stick).
Good electrical diagnostic skills and the ability to read schematics.
Experience with cylinder repair and resealing is a strong asset.
Previous experience performing or assisting with annual crane inspections is an asset (willingness to obtain certification is acceptable).
Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on shop environment.
Reliable, organized, and takes pride in quality work and a clean workspace.
Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.
