- Schedule: On-call, Monday–Friday between 7:30am–6:00pm
This role is ideal for someone who is flexible, enjoys variety, and is passionate about supporting children’s development in a fun and engaging environment.
As an On Call Child Care Substitute, you will support high-quality program delivery:
- Assist in planning and delivering programs aligned with YMCA values (Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring, Inclusiveness)
- Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with licensing requirements
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Engage with children ages 1–12 as a play partner and homework helper
- Support play-based learning including literacy, math, science, creative play, and physical activity
- Promote inclusive, respectful interactions among children
- Participate in YMCA community initiatives
- Minimum age of 19 (as per licensing standards) or ECE Assistant certification
- Minimum 20 hours of training in child development, safety, or related fields (Responsible Adult Certificate)
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C
- ECE-A, ECE, or Infant/Toddler certification (asset)
- Valid Class 4 driver’s license (asset)
