Employment Consultant-Retention Specialist
TNO - The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO) is a well-established community-based social and health service agency providing a wide range of programs and services supporting low-income and newcomer communities across Ontario and sometimes across different provinces through online services and referrals. We are seeking an Employment Consultant-Retention Specialist to join our team in a* full-time contract role until March 31, 2027*.
The ideal candidate for the Employment Consultant–Retention Specialist position is a client-centred and results-oriented professional with experience providing employment counselling, career coaching, and case management to individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those facing complex barriers to employment. They bring strong knowledge of local labour market trends, community resources, government employment programs, career development principles, and job search strategies. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong client assessment, interviewing, vocational counselling, résumé writing, documentation, report writing, and individualized goal-setting skills, and has experience developing employment opportunities and building relationships with employers to support successful job matching and retention. Experience delivering Employment Ontario programs, particularly Integrated Employment Services (IES), is considered a strong asset. A post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Career Development, Human Services, Social Work, Counselling, Education, Human Resources, Vocational Rehabilitation, or a related field is preferred. Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, privacy, and professional standards are also required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Display a high level of personal integrity and professionalism when representing TNO.
- Contact program participants daily to provide ongoing support and follow-up.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation, and a positive attitude.
- Provide services in a manner that is welcoming, safe, professional, and protects client confidentiality and privacy.
- Deliver services in line with the funder's contract, guidelines, policies, procedures, and performance requirements
- Conduct outreach activities and generate new client referrals, completing 8–10 Common Assessments each week.
- Secure 10 job starts per month, with each position providing a minimum of 20 hours of work per week, recognizing that not all clients will remain employed for the full 12 months.
- Contact clients who are inactive or have not been recently engaged to determine their employment status and assist them in returning to work.
- Ensure all assigned targets and KPIs are achieved.
- Meet an annual target of 111 clients served, with at least 70% (78) achieving employment outcomes.
- Provide ongoing job retention support through scheduled follow-up at 1-, 3-, 6-, and 12-month intervals.

- Contribute to individual and team KPIs by effectively managing a challenging caseload through prioritization and sound time management.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with referral partners and stakeholders to support client recruitment and service delivery.
- Conduct comprehensive employment assessments to identify and document clients' employment-related strengths, skills, abilities, needs, and barriers.
- Develop and implement individualized Employment Action Plans that support clients in securing and maintaining sustainable employment.
- Maintain regular contact with clients by providing career coaching, vocational guidance, job search assistance, work preparation, skills development, and other supports identified in the Employment Action Plan.
- Support clients in accessing community resources and employment-related supports by facilitating referrals and following up as required.
- Research labour market trends and identify suitable employment opportunities.
- Conduct employer site visits, where appropriate, to ensure a safe and supportive work environment for clients.
- Work collaboratively with clients and employers to resolve workplace issues and coordinate accommodations or additional supports as required.
- Coordinate and facilitate training and workplace support that promote job retention and career success.
- Provide additional employment-related supports based on each client's individual needs.
- Monitor clients' employment progress through regular follow-up, or more frequently.
- Facilitate a smooth transition to natural workplace supports for both clients and employers
- Attend job fairs, employer presentations, networking events, and community outreach activities.
- Participate in organizing and hosting employer engagement and community events.
- Deliver services in accordance with WCG contract requirements, policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation using WCG's Case Management System.
Screening – As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Job Type: Full-time contract position until March 31, 2027.
Rate of Pay: $29.00 per hour

Work Location(s): 45 Overlea Blvd. Toronto, ON M4H-1C3, and other TNO locations.
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends based on program requirements.
