A day in the role – Personal Aide (Retirement Living):
The Personal Aide reports to the Environmental Services Manager and plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents. This includes upholding high standards of cleanliness and sanitation by cleaning and disinfecting resident rooms, common areas, and furnishings in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Beyond housekeeping duties, an important part of this role is creating meaningful moments by engaging residents in everyday domestic activities—supporting independence, dignity, and a sense of purpose in their daily lives.

$19.47/hour

This position is responsible for but not limited to:
- Assisting residents with personal care such as toileting, bathing and dressing as needed or requested,
- Responding to resident call bells,
- Assisting with meals as needed or requested,
- Daily light housekeeping duties such as changing garbages in resident suites, and changing towels in resident suite,
- Daily deep cleaning of residents suite per schedule,
- Following the care plan, observing and reporting any substantial findings and/or changes in residents behavior to the UCP on duty or Charge nurse,
- Both paper and clinical documentation, per assignments,
- Performing tasks delegated to them.
Qualifications
- PSW Certification preferred, but not required,
- Experience in Retirement, or Long-Term Care preferred,
- Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned,
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and families as required,
- Demonstrates empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and service to residents,
- Demonstrates organizational skills and ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion,
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
- Ability to provide resident care in accordance with application legislation, job routines, nursing care plans,
- Ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English,
- Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results less than 6 months old, must be able to provide three supervisory references.
