Overview:
Caravan Group of Companies has an immediate opening for a City Planner, based out of our Oakville terminal. As a City Planner you will play an integral role in managing and planning city company and city owner operators based in Southern Ontario. The City Planner is responsible for the planning and execution of freight pick-up and delivery within a 200-mile radius of our Oakville terminal, ensuring seamless operations and coverage according to customer requirements. Strategically planning routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimizing costs while maintaining high standards of service and delivery. The City Planner works closely with the customer service team and customers regarding freight volumes and new opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and create trips for drivers
- Responsible to ensure committed freight is picked up and delivered as per their requirements
- Work closely with the City Driver Manager to assist with driver availability and planning, effectively communicating next moves
- Liaise with the garage to minimize out of service time for tractors and trailers
- Ensure trailers are positioned as required
- Update and inform the CSRs in a timely manner when issues arise with their customers to expedite resolution and aid in accessorial recoveries as needed
- Assist in the development of new procedures as required and increase efficiencies within the scope of work
- Effectively communicate and assist in conflict resolution with drivers to maintain retention levels at or above company targeted expectations
- Assist other Operations Team members as required
Who You Are:
- Previous transportation experience in a similar required
- Minimum grade 12
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective communicator
- Experience with Transplus FleetManager, Samsara, Orbcomm is an asset
