Job Overview
We are seeking a team-orientated Safety Advisor to support our health and safety program in our Battleford Saskatchewan facility
The Safety Advisor will work with management, supervisors, workers, contractors, and safety representatives to promote a strong safety culture, support regulatory compliance, and help ensure workers return home safely each day. The successful candidate will be confident working independently while also contributing positively in a team atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Promote a positive, practical, and approachable safety presence on site
- Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety programs, policies, procedures and safe work practices
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, safety observations and follow-up actions
- Assist supervisors and workers with job hazard analysis, field-level risk assessments, toolbox talks and lead monthly safety meetings
- Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, training records, incident files and corrective action tracking
- Support injured worker management, modified work planning, return-to -work processes and communication related to Workers' Compensation Board matters
- Provide guidance to workers and supervisors on occupational health and safety requirements, company policies and safe work expecations
- Work respectfully with all employees at all levels and help build a strong team attitude toward safety
Qualifications, Credentials and Certificates
- This is considered a junior safety role, and training can/will be provided where required
- Guidance will be provided from onsite management and safety management
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification is preferred
- WHIMIS, incident investigation, hazard assessment, confined space, fall protection, leadership for safety excellence, or other industry-related safety training is an asset
- Valid class 5 driver's licence
- Previous experience working in a health and safety environment is preferred, but we are willing to train
- Experience supporting injured workers, modified duties, return-to-work programs, and Workers' Compensation Board claims or documentation is considered an asset
- Familiarity with Saskatchewan occupational health and safety legislation, regulatory expectations, employer responsibilities, worker rights and responsibilities, incident reporting, hazard prevention, and safety committee requirements
- Ability to interpret safety requirements and communicate them clearly to workers, supervisors and management
- Experience participating in or supporting inspections, audits, investigations, safety meetings, training and corrective action follow-up

Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
