We are currently seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our faculty of Lab Instructors within our Cardiology Technologist Program in Surrey, BC. This role would be responsible for delivering the core content of a full curriculum that has been developed with the outlined responsibilities below.

- Varying times:, 10am-2pm Mondays, 5:30-9:30pm Tues-Fri & 10:30am-2:30pm or 1:00-4:00pm on weekends
- Dates: Aug 25th – Sept 29th
- Please note, labs run seven-days per week with designated days off. This job posting is a for a shared MLA Instructor position having both MLAs present for orientation and then share remaining 12 shifts for the duration of the lab.
What You Will Do:
- Demonstrate lab skills as necessary for successful phlebotomy
- Assist with all demonstrations scheduled during each lab session and assist in preparing students for the hands-on practice session
- Excellent communication and collaboration with the Lead Lab instructor and other instructors
- Actively observe and check in with assigned students working in the lab and answer all questions put forward by the students
- Evaluate students in accordance with specified criteria and complete detailed written evaluations on each student as required
- Provide feedback to students in the moment and question students to ensure they have a full understanding or expectations
- Participate in the lab debriefing session with the students – highlight student strengths, areas for improvement, correct procedures, etc.
Who You Are:
- Candidates must have successfully completed the Medical Laboratory Assistant examinations of the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and have current registration with CSMLS
- A minimum of 24 months of working experience in their field of study to qualify as an industry instructor.
- Previous preceptor training experience is an asset.
