We are currently seeking a Jr. Geomatics Technician / Survey Party Chief to join our municipal division team, working in the Calgary area.
Requirements
- Degree or technical diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology or have an equivalent amount of related experience.
- Proficient with field survey systems and software such as GPS and Total Stations
- Initiative (self-starter), requiring little to no direct direction from leadership Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
- Proficient with field calculations & notes.
- Valid class 5 drivers license with a clean driver abstract.
- Be able to represent the company with clients and the public.
- Ability to work effectively in various geographical settings, weather conditions, and climates.
- Satisfy pre-employment requirements to demonstrate fit for duty, including drug screening.
Assets:
- Experience managing own projects, communicating well with clients.
- Valid Standard First Aid, WHMIS and CSTS training certificates.
- Relevant municipal survey experience (House Stakeouts, RPR's, Legal Surveys, etc).
Key Responsibilities:
- Execution of survey field tasks assigned.
- Understand related professional acts, standards, and regulations.
- Maintain effective communication throughout each project.
- Assist to complete field survey requests, measurements, setup and configuring survey instruments.
- Locate primary and secondary survey evidence and control.
- Interpret and extrapolate surveying data from construction and design drawings.
- Distribute survey reports and manage survey data files.
- Help prepare surveying notes, grade sheets, and calculate coordinates.
- Client communications and company representation in the field.
