The Shop Hand at Dan's Oilfield Rentals supports the day-to-day operations of the shop by assisting with equipment maintenance, cleaning, organization, and general shop upkeep. This role includes helping mechanics and technicians with tasks, handling tools and materials, and ensuring the shop is organized and compliant with safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, willing to learn, and capable of following instructions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
General Shop Tasks
- Complete various tasks as assigned by the Shop Manager or other team members to support the efficient operation of the shop.
- Assist with basic repairs or assembly tasks under supervision, following instructions from mechanics or the Shop Manager.
- Support the loading and unloading of equipment or materials from trucks as required.
Equipment Assistance and Maintenance Support
- Prepare equipment for deployment by cleaning, fueling, and performing basic maintenance checks as directed.
- Transport tools, materials, and equipment within the shop.
Cleaning and Organization
- Maintain a clean and organized shop environment by sweeping floors, disposing of waste, and cleaning equipment as needed.
- Organize tools, parts, and materials in designated areas, ensuring they are readily accessible and properly stored.
- Assist in cleaning equipment after repairs or maintenance to ensure they are ready for use.
Inventory Support
- Assist in tracking inventory of parts, tools, and materials, reporting low stock levels to the Shop Manager.
- Help receive and organize incoming parts and supplies, labeling and storing them in designated areas.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in the shop.
- Report any unsafe conditions or damaged equipment to the Shop Manager promptly.
- Assist in maintaining a safe work environment by ensuring all tools and materials are stored properly and pathways are clear.
Skills & Qualifications
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn about equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of shop tools and safety protocols is an asset.
