Summary:
The Accounting Associate provides accurate and timely financial reporting, sales analysis, forecasting and royalty administration to support the Finance and Sales teams. The role analyzes customer and licensing performance, maintains recurring reports and provides clear information to support business decisions and external audit requirements.
The position also contributes to maintaining a healthy, respectful and collaborative work environment.
Job Requirements:
1. Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance
2. Minimum of one year of related experience in Accounting or related field
3. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience analyzing large volumes of financial and sales data
4. Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
5. Clear communication skills and a positive, professional attitude
6. Deadline-oriented, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
7. Experience using artificial intelligence (AI) tools is an asset
Key Responsibilities:
The following outlines the primary duties and responsibilities of this position. Responsibilities may change from time to time based on business needs.
1. Create, maintain and distribute daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly financial and sales reports; identify trends, risks and business opportunities
2. Analyze point-of-sale, shipment and inventory data for multiple retail customers, including sell-through, sales performance, distribution center and store-level inventory, and promotional activity, to support timely and effective decision-making
3. Develop expert knowledge of customer and licensing information and monitor customer performance, license performance and the sales pipeline
4. Track and analyze retail activity, including regular replenishment, event planning and rollbacks, and communicate relevant conclusions and recommendations
5. Prepare presentations using shipment and point-of-sale data for customer meetings, business reviews and internal management discussions
6. Prepare quarterly sales and royalty forecasts for licensing partners by customer and license, including updates to assumptions and variance analysis
7. Prepare accurate monthly royalty statements for licensing partners in accordance with contractual reporting requirements and coordinate timely payment
8. Prepare required month-end reconciliations, journal entries and reports with complete supporting documentation in a timely and accurate manner
9. Support external financial and licensing audits by preparing reconciliations, schedules, sample selections, reports and other requested documentation
10. Process company expense reports accurately and on time
11. Ensure the accurate and timely processing and invoicing of direct import shipments, including submission of required customs documentation
12. Prepare and report annual company stewardship fees
13. Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager or other Accounting team members
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
