ROLE: Cheesemaker
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Director
LOCATION: Burnaby, BC
We are looking for a Cheesemaker to join our Operations Team! The Cheesemaker is an expert in cheese-making technologies and understands how to conduct all steps of cheese production. The Cheesemaker will have a sound understanding of cheese making - scientific and technological principles of cheese making, unit operations, cheese technologies from A – Z, safety, quality control, grading, and more. The Cheesemaker will be tasked to create the best product from raw materials to cheese while maintaining high quality standards and integrity of the product.

- You keep informed of any news, techniques of cheese making and presentation.
- You have deep understanding of the science behind the cheese production
EXPERIENCE
- You have at least +10 years of production experience as master cheesemaker
- You have completed all 3 levels of cheese study, or Cheese Maker Certificate
- Food Science BA, MSc or other relevant experience
- Strong understanding of the different cheese equipment technologies
- Experience of working with Firm, semi-firm cheese experience (ethnic cheese, cheddar, fresh mozzarella, feta, bocconcini, and others
- You have experience with regulatory inspections and 3rd party audits.
- Experience in GMP, 5s, SQF/BRC Auditor training
NICE-TO-HAVE
- Lean manufacturing experience and/or certification
THINGS YOU WILL DO…
- Solutions for quality, composition, specifications to sanitation for the purpose of perfecting the cheese-making process
- Support marketing, research, and development of new products while keeping in mind the operations capacities and possibilities
- Review cheese-making requirements and makes recommendations to the Director/VP/General Manager for continuous product improvements
OTHER …
- You will be an integral part of innovation projects to increase product superiority, efficiencies and yields while keeping the art of making cheese alive

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Give direction to cheesemakers, quality assurance, maintenance, and management
- Provide analysis, explanation, and expertise for any product deviations or concerns
- Review and improve recipes and procedures that will enable a superior product
- Reviewing production yields, supporting the business, and keeping in mind the importance of increasing yields while trying to reduce manual labor
- Analyse finished product and review batching records
- Investigation of new cheese-making technologies that will enable the company to evolve and grow with the times
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
