Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tile Setter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience in flooring installation and tile laying, with a strong understanding of construction practices. This role involves transforming spaces through precise tile work, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal. Candidates with handyman experience, blueprint reading skills, and carpentry knowledge are highly valued. Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare surfaces for tile installation according to project specifications
- Use hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and lay tiles accurately
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure proper placement and alignment
- Prepare substrates by cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate adhesives or mortar
- Install various types of flooring including ceramic, porcelain, stone, or glass tiles
- Apply caulking and grout to seal joints and ensure a finished look
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste materials properly
- Collaborate with other trades such as carpenters or drywall installers to coordinate project timelines
- Inspect completed work for quality standards and make adjustments as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tile setting, flooring installation, or related construction roles
- Proficiency with hand tools, tile cutting equipment, and basic carpentry skills
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Knowledge of construction safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on precision and craftsmanship
- Handyman experience is a plus, demonstrating versatility across various repair tasks
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and perform manual tasks efficiently
