Since 2012, we have invested more than $400 million in facilities, people, processes, and technology, making Halifax Shipyard one of the most modern and capable shipyards in North America. Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 20+ modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year we delivered the second lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years and we're just getting started. The third ship will be delivered in 2022.

Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Co-op Student, Project Management - AOPS.
This is a co-op role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. To work as part of the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Vessel (AOPS) project, supporting the Project Management team with assigned activities.This will include management responsibility and accountability for designated major subcontractors involved with the build of the vessels. The Co-op Student Project Management – AOPS position will report to the AOPS Senior Project Manager.
Qualifications:
Academically qualified with a recognized university bachelor’s degree in progress in Business Administration, Engineering, or similar
Strong organizational abilities and strong communication skills - listening, written and oral
Excellent attention to detail
Strong Microsoft Office skills
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the AOPS Program Management team with assigned Project Management tasks to include deliverables management and coordination associated with preparation for and delivery of the AOPS to the customer
Support the regular meeting cycle that occurs with the customer including tasks such as:
Maintenance of action item lists and working with stakeholders to drive actions to completion;
Creating and distributing records of discussion;
Compile reports from existing databases to assist with the management of Key Performance Indicators
Leverage strong communication skills to engage with internal stakeholders across several departments, including Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to prepare and deliver internal and external progress updates
