Location
This is a home-based role servicing Cambria’s Premier and Red Mountain Projects in the Stewart, British Columbia area.
Periodic site visits to the project will be required.
Based on company needs, individual performance and personal development, this role may transition to a regular site-rotation role upon start of production from the mine(s).
Overall Purpose
The Senior Mining Engineer provides strategic mine planning and mine optimization support, field engineering and project coordination for open pit and underground mining.
The Senior Mining Engineer contributes to the positive culture, safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
Strategic Planning
· Conduct strategic economic analyses and optimization for mining multiple deposits of varying grades and size with open pit and underground mining methods
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists and environmental specialists, to ensure optimal resource extraction.
· Provide technical analyses of:
o Stope/pit optimization
o Mining methods
o Mining sequence
o Mining capital and operating costs
· Develop mine plans and strategies that align with economic and operational goals.
· Identify and define mining risks and mitigation measures.
UG Infrastructure Planning
· Plan and guide installation of all aspects of UG mine infrastructure including but not limited to:
o Ventilation and mine air heating
o Water management
o Electrical power reticulation
o Compressed air reticulation
o Communications
Field Support
· Provide guidance and support for junior engineers and technicians to execute mine and infrastructure development.
· Work closely with geologists on definition drilling, resource / reserve estimation, grade control and geological control of development.
· Communicate plans to mining and support personnel.
· Track and communicate mining plans, progress, costs, and compliance.
· Define equipment and labour requirements
Site Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance
· Develop mine plans that comply with all regulatory and owner standards.
· Help develop standards for mining and engineering practices where current standards are inadequate.
· Participate in site safety meetings, inspections, audits, and incident investigations as requested.
Skills and Abilities
· Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex mining challenges.
· Leadership capabilities to manage teams and projects effectively.
· Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
· Ability to oversee multiple tasks concurrently.
Experience and Qualifications
· Mine Engineering degree required.
· P.Eng. status or ability to attain it is a significant advantage.
· Practical knowledge of Canadian mining systems and practices.
· +5 years experience in an operating or developing mine.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
· Proficient in Deswik or other mine planning software.
Pay: $120,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
